New Canvas and TurnItIn features
Canvas Enhanced Rubrics: Canvas has updated the rubric tool to allow instructors to import and download their
rubrics as well as the ability to bulk download the rubric scores from the gradebook.
TurnItIn Instructor Feedback Studio Enhancements: Feedback Studio has been updated for instructors to
include streamlined assignment workflows, a unified inbox, enhanced Similarity Report, and an upgraded
feedback and grading experience.
- Document Details: Allow instructors to view information stored on a document at the time of submission,
including file metadata, language analysis, and other details relevant to identifying
potential integrity concerns.
- AI Writing Score Visibility: You can now view AI writing scores in the inbox. This
enhancement allows instructors to see AI detection results alongside other integrity
results, such as the Similarity score, without needing to open individual Similarity
Reports.
TurnItIn new assignment option: Instructors will now see an option to use either the original classic assignment
or the new standard assignment. The new version of the standard assignment includes improvements to enhance flexibility
for instructors and increase the visibility into academic integrity indicators. New
features include:
- Grant individual extensions to students
- A new AI score column in the submission list (Originality licenses only)
- Bulk update Similarity Report settings or regenerate all reports at once
- Improved accessibility
- Students receive a clear indicator when feedback is available for them to review
TurnItIn AI Writing Bypass Detection: It aims to help educators identify potential
AI misconduct and advance student learning by providing updated data and insights
on the use of AI in student submissions. This capability is an extension of our AI
writing detection capabilities and will become available from August 19 to all customers
who have AI writing detection enabled on their accounts.
Why this matters:
- Deter potential AI misconduct: With AI bypassing detection, you can now identify segments of text that were altered
by an AI bypasser to make it sound more human and evade detection. This capability
is in addition to our paraphrasing detection, both of which help deter students from
using AI writing tools and potential misconduct.
- Draw actionable insights: Use the data and insights provided by our tool to start a formative discussion with
students. The AI writing report highlights the text segments that our model predicts
were likely written by an AI tool, and content that was likely AI-written, then likely
further modified using an AI bypassing or AI paraphrasing tool to avoid detection.
Color-coded insights enable users to interpret results easily.
- Support your existing workflow: AI bypassing detection is part of our AI writing detection capabilities, which are
built into our existing Similarity Report workflow. This means it’s already integrated
with the learning management system you’re using. You can check student papers for
text that is likely AI-written and further AI paraphrased or bypassed without changing
the way you work.
