Canvas is funded by educational fees and is allowed to be used for educating students and the administration of UNT courses from which those educational fees are generated. The university has some alternatives to using Canvas for departmental needs:
Canvas is the learning management system (LMS) used by the university to manage and support online teaching and learning for students registered at the university, and we are bound to the license agreement restrictions for its intended use.
CampusCE is an institution branded storefront for continuing education courses that allow non-UNT users to register and pay for courses offered by the university.
Canvas Free External Site is a free version of Canvas offered to any users for creating free non-credit courses and allowing non-UNT users to create free accounts. More information is available on Instructure's Canvas site.
Bridge is the learning and performance management platform used for campus related compliance courses, departmental training, professional development, and other employee training. All faculty and staff (including student employees) are facilitated within the Bridge LMS.
Teams is the hub for team collaboration in Microsoft 365 that integrates the people, content, and tools for engaging and effective communication and is a great resource for search committees. It has the capability of being either publicly or privately available to a group of users, sharing documents, ongoing chat discussions, video streaming, and hosting meetings. More information can be found on the ITSS Teams website.
UNT websites are available to all departments for providing informational resources to their current and future students. Log in to Service Now and select "UNT Website - New" from the Service Now Catalog form.
